ILLINOIS WEATHER

Parts of Central Illinois Could See Heavy Rain Today

11:45PM UPDATE: Stronger storms moving out of the Bloomington area with scattered storms north of I-72.

Locations along and south of I-70 will receive the bulk of the rain Thursday and Friday where 2 to 5 inches is expected. A Flood Watch has been issued in anticipation of flash flooding and renewed rises on area rivers.

Strong to severe storms will be possible across portions of central Illinois north of I-70 from late evening into mid Thursday morning. More strong to severe storms are possible southeast of the IL river Thursday evening. The primary hazard is large hail and lightning.

The pattern turns rather soggy through the end of the week. Expect mid-day showers on Wednesday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms Wednesday night into the day on Thursday. Some showers/storms on Thursday may produce locally heavy rainfall and small hail.
