Nominate Your Farm Dog for 2025 Contest

By Jamie Martin

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF), in partnership with Nestlé Purina PetCare, is once again calling for nominations for its coveted Farm Dog of the Year Contest. The goal of this contest is to shine a light on the vital contributions of farm dogs, who help on agricultural operations and also serve as cherished family pets.

Terri Moore, Vice President of Communications at AFBF, highlights the contest’s unique ability to connect the public with agriculture. “It’s a special opportunity for the public to see farm dogs in action, not just as pets, but as indispensable helpers,” Moore says.

Ideal candidates for the contest are farm dogs who actively participate in daily farm tasks and are also well-loved members of the family. Moore notes that the contest celebrates dogs that combine practical farm skills with the affection of family life. The deadline for nominations has been extended to this Friday, the 25th, so producers have until midnight to enter.

The winner of the Farm Dog of the Year receives $5,000, a year’s supply of Purina dog food, and a stipend to attend the AFBF Convention. Additionally, the People’s Choice Pup Winner will receive $2,500, along with similar prizes.

Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to recognize your farm dog’s hard work and love. For more details or to nominate your farm dog, visit fb.org/farmdog before the Friday deadline!
