Governor's Sale of Champions Awards $275,000 to Youth in Agriculture

Governor's Sale of Champions Awards $275,000 to Youth in Agriculture

The 2023 Governor's Sale of Champions was a night to celebrate the hard work and dedication of Illinois' youth in agriculture. The event, which took place at the Illinois State Fair, featured the sale of champion livestock and commodities, as well as scholarships and awards for the top exhibitors.

The Grand Champion Steer was sold to Governor JB Pritzker and First Lady MK Pritzker for a record-breaking $105,000. The Pritzkers have been longtime supporters of the Sale of Champions, and their donation will help to support the education and advancement of youth in agriculture.

Other highlights of the event included the sale of the Grand Champion Rabbit Market Pen for $6,500, the Grand Champion Poultry Meat Pen for $5,250, and the Land of Lincoln Supreme Champion Dairy Cow Print for $4,200.

The Sale of Champions is a great way to showcase the talent and potential of Illinois' youth in agriculture. It is also an opportunity to raise money for scholarships and other programs that support these young people.

The event is made possible by the generous support of sponsors like CME Group, Beck's Seed, and the Illinois State Fair. Thanks to their support, the Sale of Champions can continue to be a night to celebrate the future of agriculture in Illinois.
