Set for February 26 and 27, the Integrated Water Management Workshop for Farmers and Landowners will take place at the Farm Credit Illinois Regional Office, Mahomet. This event, hosted by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Illinois Extension, is dedicated to advancing water and nutrient management on farms.
The workshop is structured to help attendees understand and implement effective strategies that enhance crop productivity while protecting environmental quality. Topics include integrated water management basics, soil conservation techniques, and strategies to reduce nutrient loss.
Expert speakers, including Bin Peng and Luciano Alves de Oliveira from the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, will share insights into practical and sustainable farming practices. The event aims to provide farmers and landowners with a clear roadmap to improve the management of water resources on their land.
The detailed agenda includes:
Day 1: Comprehensive overview of water management principles, diagnosis of field issues, and identification of viable solutions.
Day 2: Detailed discussions on sustainable farming practices, effective management of surface runoff, and advanced nutrient management strategies.
For a nominal fee of $15, which includes meals, participants will gain invaluable knowledge and networking opportunities. Pre-registration is required by February 19 to secure participation.
