The Illinois Department of Agriculture and University of Illinois Extension are launching the 2025 Certified Livestock Manager Training workshops. These sessions offer essential training for livestock managers to meet compliance requirements and improve farm sustainability.
The workshops begin on February 4, 2025, with sessions held at seven locations across the state. Training runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by an IDOA-administered certification test. Registration costs $40, with an additional $30 certification fee.
Workshop highlights include:
- Manure management techniques
- Compliance with Illinois Livestock Management Facilities Act
- Best practices for environmental sustainability
- Updates on livestock waste regulations
Facilities with more than 1,000 animal units must ensure managers complete the workshop and pass the exam. Certification is also mandatory for facilities managing over 300 animal units.
Can’t attend in person? Online training offers flexibility with modules covering similar topics, followed by an online exam. Participants can learn at their own pace, ensuring certification readiness.
Secure your spot by registering at go.illinois.edu/CLMT. For additional details, contact Stanley Solomon at jssolomo@illinois.edu or 815-235-4125.
