Clayton Walch joins Nutrien ag solutions as crop consultant

By Andi Anderson

Clayton Walch, a recent graduate from Western Illinois University (WIU) with a degree in Agriculture Science, specializing in Agronomy and Precision Agriculture, has embarked on an exciting career journey.

Walch has been hired by Nutrien Ag Solutions as a Crop Consultant at their Sullivan, Illinois retail branch, marking a significant milestone in his professional life.

Walch's path to this opportunity was paved by the support of a professional career recruiter, who played a key role in connecting him with the right people at Nutrien Ag Solutions.

"The recruiter arranged an interview with the division seed manager, and shortly after, I had an interview at the Sullivan branch with the location manager. A few weeks later, I received an offer for the position," Walch shared.

During his time at WIU, Walch built a strong foundation in agronomy, benefiting from the hands-on experience and guidance provided by the university's School of Agriculture.

"The practical experience I gained, combined with the support of the knowledgeable faculty, prepared me well for this role," he said. Walch is confident that his education and work experience at WIU have equipped him to excel in his new position.

In addition to his professional aspirations, Walch remains committed to staying connected with WIU. He plans to be actively involved with the WIU Alumni Association and looks forward to attending campus events and engaging with the Macomb community.

"I’m excited to participate in football games, tailgates, and other events, especially as the president of the WIU Alpha Gamma Sigma Alumni Chapter," Walch added.

Walch's journey from a dedicated student at WIU to a Crop Consultant at Nutrien Ag Solutions exemplifies the opportunities that a solid education and professional networking can provide. He is eager to contribute to the agriculture industry and looks forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead.
