Du Quoin State Fair unveils exciting theme days for 2024

The Du Quoin State Fair has announced its theme days for 2024, offering an exciting lineup of events that showcase the diversity and vibrancy of the fair. The annual event, known for its rich celebration of Illinois’ culture and agricultural heritage, will run for 11 days, each with a unique theme to engage visitors.

“Theme days highlight the diversity of the Du Quoin State Fair and celebrate everything we have to offer over the next 11 days,” said Luke Davison, Du Quoin State Fair Manager. “We continuously pursue opportunities to improve the Du Quoin State Fair and to broaden our lineup with an emphasis on agriculture, our state’s number one industry.”

The 2024 theme days include:

  • Friday, August 23 – Family Night: A perfect evening for families to enjoy together.
  • Saturday, August 24 – Governor’s Day: A day to honor Illinois' leadership.
  • Sunday, August 25 – Veterans Day: Celebrating and honoring our veterans.
  • Monday, August 26 – Agriculture Youth Day: Focused on the future of agriculture.
  • Tuesday, August 27 – Republican Day: A day for political engagement and discussion.
  • Wednesday, August 28 – Senior Day: Special events for seniors.
  • Thursday, August 29 – Sponsor Appreciation Day: Thanking the fair's supporters.
  • Friday, August 30 – Illinois Tourism Day: Highlighting Illinois’ tourist attractions.
  • Saturday, August 31 – Coal Heritage Day / SIU Day: Celebrating coal history and Southern Illinois University.
  • Sunday, September 1 – First Responder Day: Honoring first responders for their service.
  • Monday, September 2 – Labor Day: A tribute to the workforce on the final day of the fair.

The fair kicks off on Friday, August 23, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Twilight Parade at 6 p.m., featuring 4-H as the grand marshal.

Admission to the fair is free, and parking on August 23 is also free. For the remaining days, parking is $15 at Gate 1 and $10 at all other gates, making the event accessible for everyone.

With its diverse range of activities, the Du Quoin State Fair promises something for everyone, whether you are interested in agriculture, culture, or just looking for family fun.
