Rhode Island’s agricultural community, including farmers, ranchers, and urban gardeners, is encouraged to tap into a substantial $16 million in USDA conservation funding available for 2025. This initiative aims to bolster sustainable agricultural practices across the state.
Applications must be submitted by February 28, 2025, through the local NRCS Field Office or by contacting 401-822-8848 to be eligible for funding.
Highlighted Conservation Initiatives:
- Replacement of outdated agricultural equipment with cleaner technologies.
- Application of nutrient management plans to minimize environmental impact.
- Implementation of climate-smart agriculture to support biodiversity.
- Enhancement of water management through high tunnel systems and efficient irrigation.
- Engagement in targeted conservation efforts under the National Water Quality Initiative and other partnership projects.
This funding is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable agriculture and urban farming practices that contribute to environmental health and resilience.
It supports diverse conservation practices that improve soil quality, water quality, and overall ecosystem health in Rhode Island.
