Gardening enthusiasts and newcomers alike are invited to the 2025 University of Illinois Extension Garden Learning Series. This annual series, hosted virtually via Zoom, is an excellent opportunity for participants to learn about various gardening topics from the comfort of their homes.
The series kicks off on February 12th with a session on "Seed Starting for Vegetable Gardens."
This workshop will cover the essentials of starting seeds indoors, including the requirements for time, light, and water, and will offer advice on which plants are best suited for seed starting.
Participants will learn how to grow robust seedlings ready for the spring planting season.
March's session, scheduled for the 12th, will focus on "Successful Vegetable Gardening." This workshop aims to equip gardeners with research-based methods to enhance the productivity and health of their garden.
Tips will be shared on garden planning, pest control, and harvesting, ensuring attendees know how to manage a thriving garden.
April brings a celebration of compost with the "Celebrating Compost!" session on the 9th. This workshop will highlight the environmental benefits of composting, introduce various composting techniques, and share upcoming events for International Compost Awareness Week.
All sessions are free and open to the public, but registration is required and closes the day before each session. Attendees will receive a Zoom link and materials via email on the day of the workshop.
These informative sessions are designed not only to impart valuable gardening knowledge but also to foster a community of like-minded individuals passionate about gardening.
