The Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA) celebrated the achievements of its members at its latest convention by presenting its annual awards. These awards acknowledge the exceptional work of Illinois veterinary professionals in delivering compassionate care and contributing to the veterinary field.
The 2023 ISVMA Veterinary Service Award was bestowed upon Dr. Michelle Gundlach of Jefferson College, Hillsboro, Mo., for her dedicated service in mixed animal practice and small animal clinical practice. Dr. Gundlach's work includes significant contributions to veterinary education and advocating for certified veterinary technicians (CVTs).
Dr. Edmar Schreiber, practicing in Sorento, Ill., received the 2023 ISVMA President’s Award. A graduate of the University of Illinois’ College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Schreiber is recognized for his efforts in advancing the interests of the veterinary profession, particularly through legislative and membership initiatives.
The 2023 ISVMA Dr. Erwin Small First Decade Award was presented to Dr. Laura Reynolds of Stateline Hillcrest Animal Hospital in Danville/Tilton, Ill. Dr. Reynolds, a 2018 graduate of the University of Illinois’ College of Veterinary Medicine, is commended for her involvement in the ISVMA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee and her dedication to caring for stray animals.
Beth Armstrong, CVT, received the 2023 ISVMA Dr. Cecil Ingmire CVT Award for her longstanding commitment to the veterinary technician profession and her involvement in organized veterinary medicine. With a career spanning over two decades, Armstrong has made significant contributions in veterinary technician education and is currently a hybrid territory manager with Trusted Journey.
These awards reflect the ISVMA’s commitment to honoring those who have made significant contributions to veterinary medicine and animal healthcare in Illinois, highlighting the dedication and passion of professionals in the field.
