The Illinois State Fair is making it easier for visitors to explore all its attractions by expanding its tram service for the 2025 event. The service, which is free for all fairgoers, now includes more stops and runs daily from August 7 to August 17 in Springfield.
This initiative is made possible through the support of the Illinois Corn Growers Association and Ameren Illinois. Two trams will operate daily along a dedicated route, making it more convenient for guests of all ages and abilities to navigate the fairgrounds.
The tram route includes stops at key locations such as Happy Hollow, the Illinois Building/Senior Center (a new stop), Campground/Arena entrance, 4-H Road, Conservation World, Goat Barn at Grandstand Avenue, South End of the Half-Mile Track near Gate 4, ISF Security Office, and Hobbies, Arts & Crafts building.
The service is wheelchair accessible, and wheelchair and scooter rentals are available at the Senior Center and near the Goat Barn. Handicap parking is provided at Gates 4, 7, and 11.
Jerry Costello II, Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, stated, “Offering tram service at the Illinois State Fair is part of our commitment to making the fair experience enjoyable and accessible for everyone.”
Jeff Scates, Chairman of the Illinois Corn Marketing Board, added, “Our goal is for every person in Illinois to gain a deeper understanding of where their food comes from.”
The tram runs continuously on most days from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., with earlier start times on weekends. Maps with tram routes will be posted throughout the fairgrounds.
With extended tram service, visitors can enjoy more of the fair with greater ease and comfort.
