The American Business Club (ABC) of Springfield has been named the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Illinois State Fair Twilight Parade, celebrating 100 years of community service and volunteerism. Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois State Fair announced this honor in recognition of the club's extensive contributions over the decades.
ABC is the largest AMBUCS chapter in the country, with 300 local members. The club has raised more than $6 million through fundraising activities, especially during the Illinois State Fair.
Since 1954, ABC volunteers have worked the Grandstand concessions, and since 2004, they’ve staffed the admission gates—demonstrating their long-standing support of the fair.
“ABC’s commitment to philanthropy and service sets a gold standard,” said Governor Pritzker. “Their efforts uplift communities and represent the best of Illinois.”
In celebration of their centennial, ABC will host an Amtryke giveaway during Sunflower Hours on Saturday, August 9, at 10 a.m. on Grand Central Stage at the Reisch Pavilion. The Amtryke Adaptive Tricycle Program has provided hundreds of therapeutic tricycles to children and veterans for more than 20 years, all free of charge.
Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton praised the club for its broader contributions, including scholarship programs and promoting accessibility. “Thank you, ABC of Springfield, for uplifting our communities,” she said.
The Twilight Parade begins on August 7 at 5:30 p.m., starting from Lincoln Park and moving through the Illinois State Fairgrounds. ABC’s participation marks a proud moment of recognition and celebration.
