Illinois State Fair Enhances Safety Measures for 2025 Guests

By Andi Anderson

The Illinois State Fair has announced updated safety rules to ensure a secure and pleasant experience for all visitors.

Working closely with the Illinois State Police, the fair is taking extra steps to maintain a safe environment across the fairgrounds, especially at the popular Grandstand events.

A list of prohibited items has been shared. Guests are not allowed to bring firearms (including concealed carry weapons), knives, pepper spray, stun guns, brass knuckles, bats, illegal substances, fireworks, drones, laser pointers, or flammable materials. These items will be confiscated if found.

Security has been strengthened at the Grandstand, where large crowds gather for concerts and other events. For the first time, metal detectors and bag checks will be placed at all entrances. To reduce wait times and improve safety, backpacks, duffle bags, and bags or purses larger than 14 inches by 8 inches are not permitted.

Concertgoers using mobile tickets should download them ahead of time using the Ticketmaster app to avoid any connection issues at the gate.

For beverages, the rules from 2024 remain in place. All drinks purchased inside the Grandstand will be opened upon sale. On the track (standing area), drinks will be poured into plastic cups. No sealed bottles, cans, or reusable containers, such as Stanley cups or souvenir cups, will be allowed.

In addition, large professional cameras and tripods are not permitted inside the Grandstand area.

These new safety guidelines are meant to protect everyone visiting the Illinois State Fair. Officials encourage all guests to review the new rules in advance to help keep the fairgrounds safe and enjoyable for all.
