Illinois Soybean Association Names New Board Leaders

By Andi Anderson

The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) recently elected its new board leadership during the annual public meeting held on July 22 in Champaign, Illinois. The event marked a leadership transition and the introduction of new executive members and district directors.

Bryan Severs, a third-generation farmer from Vermillion County, has been elected as the new ISA Chairman.

He replaces outgoing Chairman Ron Kindred. Severs, who raises corn, soybeans, and cattle with his family, has served as the District 7 Director since 2020. His leadership background includes roles as ISA Treasurer and Chairman of the Soybean Production Committee.

In addition to his new role at ISA, Severs currently serves as Chairman of the Specialty Soya and Grains Alliance (SSGA) and as a Director with the American Soybean Association (ASA).

“Throughout these past five years of serving on the Illinois Soybean Board, I have seen first-hand the value the organization brings to soybean farmers,” said Severs. “On behalf of the 43,000 soybean farmers in Illinois, I look forward to seeing what the ISA Board can achieve together in the next year.”

Other elected executive committee members include Brady Holst of Plymouth as Vice Chairman, Tim Scates of Carmi as Treasurer, Scott Gaffner of Greenville as Secretary, and Jeff O’Connor of Kankakee as Assistant Treasurer-Secretary.

Three new District Directors were also elected to serve three-year terms until July 2028. They are Weston Olson of Peru for District 4, Rob Shaffer of El Paso for District 6, and Tim Clark of Macomb for District 8.

These appointments reflect ISA’s commitment to strengthening the voice and support of soybean producers across Illinois through leadership, innovation, and farmer-focused programs.
