Illinois State University's First Campus Sustainability Showcase

Mark your calendar for an exciting event at Illinois State University – the Campus Sustainability Showcase. Hosted by the Center for a Sustainable Water Future and the Office of Sustainability, this event is a unique opportunity to witness the latest advancements in sustainability, all while being part of a broader sustainability conversation.

Event Details:

• Date: Thursday, October 26, 2023
• Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Location: Old Main Room of the Bone Student Center

This event is open to all members of the Illinois State University community, from faculty and staff to students and sustainability enthusiasts. The Campus Sustainability Showcase aims to shed light on the pioneering sustainability efforts taking place across campus and bring attention to the goals and action items outlined in the Illinois State University Sustainability Strategic Plan. What to Expect:

The event offers a diverse range of activities and opportunities for engagement:

• Open House: Explore posters and exhibits that highlight the eight key pillars of the Sustainability Strategic Plan. You'll be able to immerse yourself in sustainability initiatives and learn about the campus's achievements.
• Interactive Exhibits: Get hands-on with interactive exhibits that allow you to create seed bombs of native wildflowers, explore the ISU Rolling Garden, take the ISU Sustainability pledge, and write inspirational notes for students receiving plant care packages next semester.
• Roundtable Discussions: From 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., join roundtable discussions on topics related to the Sustainability Strategic Plan. Facilitated by faculty and staff, these discussions provide a platform to share your thoughts, assess campus efforts, and suggest sustainability priorities.
• Panel Discussion: From 11:15 a.m. to noon, dive into a panel discussion that explores the intersection of fair trade and sustainability, with a focus on social justice. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and participate in this engaging dialogue.

How to Participate:

Feel free to attend any portion of the event that aligns with your schedule. There's no prior registration or cost required to attend the showcase, and refreshments will be available throughout the event.

The Campus Sustainability Showcase offers multiple ways for the campus community to learn, participate, share perspectives, and contribute to campus sustainability efforts. The event's format is designed to encourage collaboration and collective action toward a more sustainable future for Illinois State University.
