Illinois Agriculture Drone Education Day

Illinois Agriculture Drone Education Day

By Andi Anderson

Agricultural drone technology will be the focus of a special educational event on June 5 at the Georgetown Fairgrounds in Illinois. The Agriculture Drone Education Day will provide farmers, crop advisers, and agricultural professionals with information about how drones are being used to improve modern farming operations.

The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Georgetown Fairgrounds located at 413 North Seminary Street in Georgetown, Illinois. Organizers said the field-style program will explore both the benefits and challenges connected to spray drone technology in agriculture.

Drone technology has become increasingly important in farming operations, especially for applying pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. As production costs continue increasing, many producers are searching for ways to improve efficiency while managing expenses during the growing season. The event is designed to help participants better understand how drones may support crop management and agricultural productivity.

Educational presentations throughout the day will focus on drone features, hauling equipment, safety considerations, insurance requirements, state regulations, and compliance rules. Participants will also have opportunities to ask questions and connect with industry professionals during networking sessions and equipment demonstrations.

The program schedule includes registration and breakfast beginning at 8:30 a.m., followed by presentations and demonstrations throughout the day. Demonstrations will feature several agricultural drone systems, including the EAVision J150, DJI Agras T100, XAG P150Max, and Ceres Black Betty models.

Additional sessions will cover truck and trailer efficiency, insurance requirements, state regulations, and the use of drone technology by the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. A panel discussion and question-and-answer session will also allow participants to learn more about integrating drones into agricultural operations.

Organizers said there is no cost to attend the event, and registration is not required. Lunch will be provided for attendees. Certified Crop Adviser Continuing Education Units will also be available for qualified participants at the end of the event.

The event is supported by several agricultural organizations and industry partners, including University of Illinois Extension, Hunsinger Ag Solutions, ProHarvest Seeds, Agri Spray Drones, Hefty Seed Company, and Flightline Assurance.
