The Du Quoin State Fair has announced its lineup of theme days for 2026, offering visitors an opportunity to celebrate the people, traditions, and industries that make Southern Illinois unique. The fair will feature a variety of special days dedicated to families, agriculture, veterans, seniors, first responders, tourism, and local heritage.
Sharing the importance of these celebrations, Luke Davison, Du Quoin State Fair Manager, said, “Our theme days give visitors a chance to celebrate something that connects them to the Du Quoin State Fair. We want every guest to feel welcome and leave with memories that bring them back year after year.”
The fair will begin on Friday, August 28, 2026, with Family Night. Governor’s Day will take place on August 29, followed by Veterans Day on August 30. Agriculture Day, which recognizes the importance of farming and the agricultural community, will be observed on August 31.
Other theme days include Republican Day on September 1, Senior Day on September 2, Sponsor Appreciation Day on September 3, and Illinois Tourism Day on September 4. Visitors can also enjoy Coal Heritage Day and SIU College Day on September 5. The celebration will continue with First Responders Day on September 6 and conclude with Labor Day activities on September 7.
A special ribbon-cutting ceremony will officially open the fair on August 28 at 5:30 p.m. Following the ceremony, the popular Twilight Parade will begin at 6 p.m. The grand marshal for the parade will be Sam Kuhnert of NubAbility.
The fair aims to bring together residents, families, agricultural producers, community organizations, and visitors from across the region. Each theme day will highlight different groups and contributions that play an important role in Southern Illinois.
Admission to the Du Quoin State Fair will remain free for all visitors. Parking will also be free on opening day, August 28. For the remaining days of the fair, parking fees will be $15 at Gate 1 and $10 at all other gates.
With a full schedule of activities and community-focused celebrations, the 2026 Du Quoin State Fair is set to provide an enjoyable and memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
