Corn Planting Hits Final Stride


Illinois farmers are nearly done planting corn for this spring, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Illinois Crop Progress and Condition Report.

As of Sunday, corn planted in Illinois had reached 91 percent, compared to the five-year average of 75 percent. Corn emerged reached 68 percent, compared to the five-year average of 53 percent.

Soybeans planted reached 85 percent, compared to the five-year average of 58 percent. Soybeans emerged reached 57 percent compared to the five-year average of 34 percent.
