Ag Tech Science Camp: Exploring the Synergy of Agriculture and Technology

Baebler Educational Farm is all set to host the Ag Tech Science Camp, a unique program that delves into the fascinating realm where agriculture and technology converge. Geared towards young enthusiasts between the ages of 12 and 15, this immersive camp promises an engaging experience through hands-on activities, expert guidance, and exciting field trips.

Scheduled from June 12 to July 21, 2023, the Ag Tech Science Camp aims to nurture a deep understanding of the pivotal role played by technology in modern agriculture. Participants will have the opportunity to embark on a journey of exploration, learning about different corn varieties by planting and observing them firsthand. Taking innovation to new heights, campers will also get to employ drones for data collection, uncovering the valuable insights they provide.

At the heart of this enriching experience lies the chance to interact with renowned scientists and entomologists, who will share their expertise and knowledge with the young participants. By connecting with these experts, campers will gain valuable insights into cutting-edge agricultural practices and witness the real-world applications of technology in farming.

To ensure a comprehensive learning experience, attendance for both weeks of the camp is required. The sessions will be held alternately at Baebler Educational Farm in Waterloo and the Jackie Joyner Kersee (JJK) Youth Center. Additionally, Fridays will be dedicated to exciting field trips, with transportation from Waterloo to the JJK Youth Center and other destinations provided.

The Ag Tech Science Camp is a free program, open to all with a thirst for knowledge. However, due to limited availability, interested individuals are encouraged to secure their spot by registering promptly. Snacks and drinks will be provided to fuel the young minds during this transformative journey.

The University of Illinois Extension, committed to equal opportunities in programs and employment, ensures that reasonable accommodations are made for all participants. For those requiring assistance to participate in the Ag Tech Science Camp, please reach out to the Extension office at 618-939-3434.

This summer, seize the opportunity to explore the dynamic blend of agriculture and technology at the Ag Tech Science Camp. Unleash your curiosity, expand your horizons, and discover the incredible possibilities that arise when these two fields intertwine.
