Western grain marketing leases Biggs & Easton elevators

Western grain marketing leases Biggs & Easton elevators

By Andi Anderson

Western Grain Marketing, LLC (WGM) is expanding its grain storage and marketing services in Illinois with the acquisition of the grain elevators owned by Farmers Elevator Company of Biggs & Easton (Biggs & Easton). Effective September 25, 2023, this strategic move sees WGM leasing the grain elevators located in Biggs and Easton, Illinois, adding to its existing assets.

The Biggs & Easton elevators offer an impressive grain storage capacity of over four million bushels and handle grain sales of six and a half to seven million bushels annually. This expansion aligns with WGM's commitment to providing a greater level of service to local farmers.

WGM, a joint venture between GROWMARK, Inc., Sunrise FS, Prairieland FS, Inc., and West Central FS, Inc., already operates 21 locations in Western Illinois. In total, they boast a significant storage capacity of 36 million bushels and annual grain sales exceeding 80 million bushels.

GROWMARK, Inc., the agricultural cooperative behind WGM, serves nearly 400,000 customers across North America. They offer a wide range of agricultural services, including agronomy, energy, facility engineering, construction, logistics, grain marketing, and risk management. With its headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, GROWMARK owns the FS trademark, which is widely utilized by member cooperatives.

This expansion enhances WGM's ability to serve the agricultural community in Illinois and strengthens its position as a trusted partner for grain storage and marketing services.
