As gardening gains popularity, the Growing Great Vegetables webinar series from the University of Illinois Extension is here to help both beginners and experienced gardeners.
This five-week series provides practical tips for growing vegetables, whether in a large backyard or small containers.
The series begins on March 4, featuring weekly online sessions from 6 to 7 p.m. Each session includes a 50-minute presentation followed by a Q&A with horticulture experts. Participants will also receive additional research-based tips and resources to enhance their learning experience.
Here’s what to expect:
Where Will You Garden? (March 4)
Learn to create gardens using any available space, from traditional plots to vertical gardening.
Seed and Plant Choices, Soils, and Fertilizers (March 11)
Discover how to select seeds, test soil, and choose fertilizers for a productive garden.
Cool-Season Vegetables (March 18)
Master techniques for growing and harvesting cool-season crops like lettuce and spinach.
Warm-Season Vegetables (March 25)
Learn to grow warm-season vegetables like tomatoes and peppers during the hottest months.
Insects and Diseases (April 1)
Understand how to manage pests, diseases, and disorders in your garden.
A bonus Q&A session on April 29 allows participants to ask any gardening-related questions. Sessions will be recorded for those unable to attend live.
