Trump Pushes to Approve Year-Round E15

By Jamie Martin

President Trump has once again voiced strong support for year-round sales of E15 fuel, drawing praise from the Renewable Fuels Association and leaders across the ethanol industry. Speaking in Iowa, the President encouraged Congress to send legislation approving year-round E15 sales to his desk as soon as possible.

E15 is a gasoline blend containing 15 percent ethanol. Supporters say it plays a key role in expanding markets for corn growers while offering drivers a lower-priced fuel option. Although E15 is already available in many areas, seasonal restrictions have limited its full market potential.

“I promised to support E15 all year-round,” said President Trump. “I am trusting Speaker Johnson and Leader Thune to find a deal that works—we’ve got it—for farmers, consumers, and refiners…to get E15 approved. And they are working on it and they are very close to getting it done. And [they’ll] be sending me a bill very shortly supporting year-round E15, to my desk very quickly, and I will sign it without delay.”

The Renewable Fuels Association highlighted that year-round E15 access could significantly boost the farm economy. Increased ethanol demand supports corn prices, strengthens rural communities, and creates jobs throughout the renewable fuels supply chain. Industry leaders believe E15 expansion offers long-term benefits without requiring major infrastructure changes.

Ethanol advocates also recognized the efforts of lawmakers from key agricultural states who have worked to remove regulatory hurdles. These efforts aim to give fuel retailers and ethanol producers the certainty they need to invest and expand.

Beyond economic benefits, E15 is viewed as a cleaner-burning fuel that can help reduce emissions compared to standard gasoline. Supporters say wider use of ethanol aligns with national goals for energy security and domestic fuel production.

As discussions continue in Washington, farm and ethanol organizations remain optimistic. Many see year-round E15 approval as a practical step that delivers benefits across agriculture, energy, and transportation. With strong backing from the President, supporters believe Congress has a clear opportunity to advance a policy that supports farmers, lowers fuel prices, and strengthens America’s renewable fuels industry.
