Farmers across the United States are utilizing technology to help them manage their busy working seasons, with drones emerging as a useful tool. According to reports, drone spraying is five times faster than traditional farm machinery, making it a cost-effective and efficient solution for crop management.
Drones can be used to monitor crop conditions such as water systems, soil variety, pests, and fungal infestations. Additionally, drones can be used to spray fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides. This technology has become increasingly popular among farmers, particularly in Illinois, where 40% of crops have been planted, according to the May 1st USDA report.
Illinois has made significant progress compared to the same time last year when only 6% of crops had been planted. The state is leading the Midwest in planting progress, with Missouri also running ahead of schedule at 80% planted. However, Iowa is struggling at 29%, lower than their five-year average of 34%.
With the help of drones, farmers can ensure that their crops receive the necessary attention and care to maximize yields, leading to increased profits and a more sustainable farming future.
