SIUE's Lee Featured for 'Breaking the Mold of What A Scientist Looks Like'

SIUE's Danielle N. Lee, PhD, assistant professor in the College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Biological Sciences, is a nationally-recognized scholar who consistently underscores the importance of increasing diversity in science.

In a Science Friday article, "Breaking the Mold of What A Scientist Looks Like," writer Clare Fieseler highlights Lee's journey toward becoming a scientist and professor.

An excerpt from Fieseler's article reads, "But despite these challenges, Danielle is determined. She is passionate about pushing past boundaries and inspiring young people of all back grounds to get engaged I science. Because for Danielle, science is a bridge that unites people, regardless of their differences, in investigating and discovering the amazing world around them." Read the full article here.

Lee was also featured by Science Friday as a Live On The Air guest. Her segment, entitled "I Will Not Be Vole Girl -- A Biologist Warms to Rodents," aired last week. Listen to the full interview with host Shoshannah Buxbaum at www.sciencefriday.com/segments/rodent-biologist/ .
