Community members are invited to attend the Extension Council and Community Conversations event on September 11, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Williamson County Extension Office in Marion, Illinois.
The event will provide an opportunity for residents to meet Extension staff and Council members, learn about current educational initiatives, and discuss ways to strengthen community services.
The gathering will focus on building stronger connections between Extension professionals and local communities. Participants will gain valuable insight into programs designed to support youth development, leadership skills, and educational growth across several counties in the region. The event also aims to encourage open discussion and collaboration between community members and Extension representatives.
During the session, 4-H Youth Development Educator Toni Kay Wright and additional members of the 4-H team will explain how they support and inspire young people through educational activities and development programs.
Their work reaches youth across Franklin, Jackson, Perry, Randolph, and Williamson counties. These programs help young individuals build confidence, develop leadership abilities, learn practical life skills, and prepare for future opportunities.
Attendees will have the chance to hear about the impact of youth-focused initiatives and the ways these programs contribute to personal growth and community development.
The presentation will highlight how Extension educators work with families, schools, and local organizations to create positive learning experiences for young people.
An important part of the event will be the opportunity for community members to share their thoughts and suggestions. Extension leaders welcome feedback on how educational efforts can be improved and how programs can better meet the needs of local residents.
These conversations help ensure that future initiatives remain relevant, effective, and responsive to changing community priorities.
