Southern Illinois University Carbondale is hosting Ag Field Days in Belleville and Carbondale, bringing together farmers and the public for agricultural events.
On July 13 and 14, the free and open-to-all events will take place rain or shine, expecting around 200 attendees each day.
The Belleville event, sponsored by SIU's College of Agricultural, Life, and Physical Sciences, starts at 8:30 a.m. at SIU's Belleville Research Center. It will feature speakers discussing topics like aerial drone applications, drought monitoring, soybean herbicide programs, cover-crop planting and management, and updates on the latest Farm Bill.
After lunch, attendees can join weed science trial tours, and certified crop adviser credits are available. No registration is required.
The Carbondale event, held on July 14 at the University Farms' Service Center, requires registration. Sponsored by Illinois NREC, Illinois Soybean Association, Illinois Farm Bureau, and SIU's College of Agricultural, Life, and Physical Sciences, it will cover subjects including cover crops, soil and water quality, agricultural productivity, and agronomy Q&A.
The event will showcase student poster presentations, and certified crop adviser credits can be earned. Lunch will be provided.
