Pam Monetti has been appointed as the next Illinois Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development office. The Biden Administration announced her appointment, recognizing her extensive experience and dedication to rural development.
Monetti, a resident of Macoupin County, steps into the role previously held by Betsy Dirksen Londrigan. Londrigan recently took on the position of Administrator for the USDA Rural Business Cooperative Service in Washington D.C., paving the way for Monetti's new leadership role.
The USDA Illinois State Office for Rural Development, located in Champaign, oversees various programs designed to support economic development in rural communities. These programs are administered through 11 field offices spread across the state.
The initiatives aim to provide grants and loans for essential projects, including public facility upgrades and efforts to expand broadband access in rural areas.
Monetti's appointment is expected to bring fresh energy and insights to the USDA Rural Development office in Illinois.
