NAWG Names Jamie Kress President

By Jamie Martin

The National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) announced the election of Jamie Kress as its new president during the 2026 Annual Conference in Washington, DC. Her appointment reflects the organization’s focus on strong leadership and practical farming experience.

Kress farms alongside her husband Cory on an 8,500-acre dryland operation in eastern Idaho’s Rockland Valley. Their farm primarily produces winter and spring wheat and also includes rotational crops such as canola, safflower, mustard, dry peas, and chickpeas. This crop diversity supports soil health and helps manage production risks.

Kress has an extensive background in agricultural leadership. She most recently served as president of the Idaho Grain Producers Association, becoming the first woman to hold that position. At the national level, she has been actively involved with NAWG through service on its Board of Directors, Budget Committee, and as chair of the Domestic and Trade Policy Committee.

“It is an honor to serve as president of NAWG at such a pivotal time for agriculture. I am inspired by the resilience and innovation of wheat growers across the country, and I am committed to leading with collaboration and purpose. Together, we will elevate our voice in Washington, advance policies that empower producers, and secure a strong, sustainable future for nation’s farmers and rural communities,” said NAWG President Jamie Kress.

NAWG also announced the election of additional officers. Nathan Keane of Montana will serve as vice president, while Chris Tanner of Kansas was named treasurer. Auston Andersen of Colorado will take on the secretary role. Pat Clements of Kentucky will serve as past president, and Tim Turek of Kansas was elected to the association’s budget committee.

NAWG leadership praised Kress as a forward-thinking and unifying leader. According to the organization, her experience and vision will help strengthen NAWG’s voice in Washington and ensure long-term success for wheat growers. All officers will officially begin their terms on February 27, following the conclusion of the 2026 Commodity Classic in San Antonio, Texas.

“Jamie Kress is a forward-thinking leader with a deep understanding of both the challenges and opportunities facing wheat growers today. Her vision, integrity, and talent for bringing people together will set NAWG up for long-term success and a bigger impact. Looking ahead, we’re confident that Jamie’s leadership will help the association grow stronger, more united, and a more influential voice for wheat growers across the country,” said NAWG’s Sam Kieffer.
