The Little Sprouts with 4-H and Master Gardeners program is an educational initiative designed to introduce children to the basics of gardening and nature appreciation.
The program focuses on helping young learners understand how plants grow and why caring for the environment is important.
Through storytelling and simple hands-on activities, children are encouraged to explore the natural world in an enjoyable and meaningful way.
This gardening session is led by knowledgeable volunteers from 4-H and certified Master Gardeners. These experts guide children using age-appropriate lessons that make learning both easy and exciting.
Storybooks are used to spark imagination, followed by interactive activities that help reinforce basic gardening concepts. Children learn by doing, which helps them remember and enjoy the experience.
The program welcomes participants of all ages and creates a friendly space for children to learn together. An adult must accompany each youth participant to ensure safety and provide support during the session.
This shared experience also allows families to learn about gardening together and encourages learning beyond the event.
The event will take place at a local public library, making it easily accessible to community members.
Libraries provide a safe and welcoming environment for educational programs and support learning outside of the classroom. Parents are encouraged to register their children in advance to ensure participation.
Little Sprouts aims to build curiosity, patience, and responsibility while helping children develop early life skills. Gardening teaches children how to care for living things and understand where food comes from.
Programs like this play an important role in shaping positive attitudes toward agriculture, nature, and healthy living.
Registration must be done by 29 April. Register here. If accommodation is needed, contact Beth Miglin.
