Illinois state fair livestock registration goes digital

Illinois state fair livestock registration goes digital

By Andi Anderson

The Illinois State Fair is embracing technology by shifting livestock exhibitor registration to an online platform using ShoWorks. This move is part of an ongoing effort to modernize and streamline the process, making it easier and more efficient for participants.

Jerry Costello II, Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, expressed enthusiasm about the update, stating, “We are excited to bring our registration process into the 21st century with this powerful tool.”

This sentiment is supported by Rebecca Clark, Manager of the Illinois State Fair, who highlighted the benefits of ShoWorks, noting its security, user friendliness, and flexibility which are essential for the fair's growth.

The new system not only simplifies the registration process but also introduces the ShoWorks Passport program. This feature allows exhibitors to create, view, and check in entries, and even reuse them at other events that utilize ShoWorks.

For those needing assistance with the new system, a tutorial is available on the Competitive Events page of the fair's website. A kiosk station is set up in the Emmerson Building on the fairgrounds, where staff are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to offer one-on-one help.

As the fair approaches, with the entry deadline on July 15 and the event scheduled from August 8 through August 18 in Springfield, exhibitors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new system to ensure a smooth participation process.
