As the nation eagerly tunes in to the Super Bowl, several Illinois farmers take center stage in a commercial spotlight, delivering a powerful message on the importance of family-owned farms. The initiative, led by the Illinois Farm Families (IFF) coalition, aims to raise awareness about the significant contribution of local farmers and dispel misconceptions about corporate dominance in agriculture.
Chad Bell, a featured farmer in the commercial, expresses the mission of the campaign, stating, “We just really want to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers. We really want to help consumers see that of all the farmsteads they see while driving down the highway or interstate, 96% are owned by Illinois farm families.”
The "We Are the 96%" campaign is a rallying cry to Illinois residents, urging them to understand the impact of supporting family-owned farms and making informed choices about their food sources. With over 20 families showcased in the commercial, the spotlight is on the commitment and sustainability efforts embedded in the growth of crops on these farms.
To complement the commercial, the IFF has crafted individual profiles for each featured family on the We Are the 96% website, providing a deeper connection between consumers and the farmers responsible for their food.
Catch a glimpse behind the scenes of the commercial shoot through extra content shared on the IFF's Facebook and YouTube channels. Join the movement, celebrate local agriculture, and recognize the faces behind the food on your plate.
