Farm Rescue - Helping Farmers in Crisis

Farm Rescue - Helping Farmers in Crisis

By Andi Anderson

Farm Rescue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting farmers during times of crisis, stepped in to help an Illinois farmer, Ray Glover, after he suffered severe injuries in an accident. Glover, a lifelong farmer, was changing tires on a semi-truck when it fell on him, causing broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and kidney and liver lacerations.

Recognizing the critical situation, Farm Rescue mobilized its team and resources to assist Glover during the harvest season. They provided one of their combines and three volunteers who took time off from work to help harvest approximately 500 acres of corn on Glover's farm.

Farm Rescue's Field Operations manager, Ben Smith, highlighted the organization's unique role in providing on-the-ground assistance to farmers during challenging times. The volunteers' dedication and support were greatly appreciated by Glover, who expressed his gratitude for their help.

One of the volunteers, Alex Spiros, emphasized the empathy and understanding of the farmers' perspective, stating that he would be grateful for volunteers if his family faced a similar tragic situation.

Farm Rescue's assistance not only helps farmers like Ray Glover during their time of need but also demonstrates the importance of community and support within the farming industry. Their efforts ensure that crucial tasks like harvesting can continue even when farmers face unexpected challenges and injuries.
