Casey’s Pizza and Illinois Farm Families (IFF) have come together for the month of October to celebrate and recognize local farm families and their contributions to the state's largest industry. This collaborative effort highlights the important role of family-owned farms in Illinois.
During this promotional campaign, each Casey’s pizza purchased until October 31 includes a flyer featuring profiles of ten farm families from various parts of the state. The initiative is available at all Casey’s locations in Illinois.
The partnership between Casey’s and IFF aligns with IFF's ongoing "We are the 96%" campaign, designed to raise awareness about the fact that 96% of farms in Illinois are family-owned. By featuring farm families alongside their pizzas, Casey’s and IFF aim to engage and educate both urban and rural communities throughout the state.
Jon Rosenstiel, chairman of Illinois Corn and a farmer from Pearl City, emphasized the significance of this collaboration. "Casey’s sells pizzas in nearly every county in Illinois, offering the opportunity to bring our message about family farm ownership to both urban and rural folks in Illinois. It’s a natural partnership with a natural fit, and we are so excited to celebrate," said Rosenstiel.
Lindsay Mitchell, director of communications for Illinois Corn and a member of the IFF coalition, added that this partnership is an investment in consumer engagement. By highlighting the "96% family-owned" statistic, it provides an opportunity for farmers to engage with non-farmers and build relationships.
As an additional part of the celebration for National Pizza Month, Casey’s and IFF will give away 96 pizzas at five different grain elevators. Farmers delivering to specific locations in Maple Park, Enfield, Galva, Carlyle, and Sidney will receive a free pizza and drink during lunchtime hours.
The partnership between Casey’s and Illinois Farm Families underscores the importance of family farmers in Illinois and their vital role in the state's agriculture industry.
