AGCO launches training hub for future technicians

By Jamie Martin

AGCO Corporation has officially opened its cutting-edge Technician Training Centre at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois, as part of its efforts to cultivate a skilled workforce in agriculture.

The 22,000-square-foot facility is dedicated to the Agricultural Service Technician Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program. Focused on AGCO’s advanced machinery, this program combines academic instruction with hands-on training. AGCO’s $5 million investment underscores its commitment to addressing the critical shortage of skilled technicians in agriculture.

This apprenticeship-based program is recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor, blending classroom learning with on-the-job experience. Students graduate with credentials valued nationwide.

The new facility features state-of-the-art classrooms, 18,000 square feet of shop space, and the latest tools and equipment from AGCO brands like Fendt®, Massey Ferguson®, and PTx™. It will also host specialized training for AGCO’s dealer network, bridging the gap between students and seasoned technicians.

Through partnerships with its North American dealer network, AGCO supports students with internships, mentoring, and career opportunities post-graduation.

“Today’s equipment and precision ag technologies require highly skilled technicians to keep our farmers farming,” said Eric Hansotia, AGCO’s Chairman, President, and CEO. “This facility demonstrates AGCO’s commitment to future technicians, farmers and dealers, ensuring reliable operations and successful farming across the region.”

By prioritizing advanced training, AGCO’s Technician Training Centre ensures the agricultural industry is prepared to meet the evolving demands of today’s farms.
