The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced a significant investment in rural Illinois communities. Over $500,000 in Housing Preservation Grants will be allocated to four organizations to help low-income families repair and improve their homes.
Benefits of the grants:
- Improve housing conditions: The grants will fund repairs and improvements to homes, making them safer and more comfortable for residents.
- Support low-income families: The program helps low-income families stay in their homes by providing financial assistance for repairs they may not be able to afford on their own.
- Boost rural economies: By improving housing conditions, the grants can attract new residents and businesses to rural communities, leading to economic growth.
Grant recipients and their projects:
- Rebuilding Together: $120,000 to provide housing repairs for 10 low-income homeowners in Henry County.
- Southernmost IL Delta Empowerment Zone: $139,000 to benefit about 10 homeowners in Pulaski County.
- Crosswalk Community Action Agency: $139,000 for home repairs for 12 low-income homeowners in Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, and Williamson counties.
