Western Illinois University (WIU) is set to launch a Master of Science in Engineering Technology program, featuring a Precision Agriculture emphasis, starting in Fall 2024.

This 30-semester-hour program is tailored to equip professionals with advanced knowledge and leadership skills in agricultural technology.

One of the standout features of this program is its nearly 100% placement rate. Students will benefit from a small student-to-faculty ratio and class sizes, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

The program offers industry certification opportunities, competitive salaries, and team-oriented work environments. Internship opportunities are also a significant highlight.

The program's curriculum is STEM-designated, including advanced coursework in strategic planning, continuous improvement, quality, and leadership. Students will engage in real-world applications such as designing experiments, presentations, continuous improvement studies, intellectual property documentation, and team-building activities.

There are also ample opportunities for industrial work experiences, including internships, independent studies, and research projects. The program places a strong emphasis on industry-standard technical writing.

Graduates of this program can look forward to career opportunities in various fields, including Agricultural Business, Agricultural Education, Agricultural Technology Management, Farm Operations, Precision Agriculture, and General Business and Industry.

Internship opportunities with companies offering expertise and leadership roles are available during any academic term, providing valuable real-world experience.

Applicants to the program need to have a bachelor's degree in an Engineering-related or Agriculture program with at least 15 hours of technical courses. For students with fewer technical hours, a two-phase program is available to meet the requirements.

The program requires completing at least 30 semester hours, including core courses and directed electives, plus one of three exit options: a thesis plan, a professional internship plan, or an independent research plan.
