Gourmet Trends Recalls Pork Products for Undeclared Allergen Risk

Gourmet Trends Recalls Pork Products for Undeclared Allergen Risk

By Andi Anderson

Gourmet Trends Kitchen, a food business based in Sheldon, Illinois, has announced a recall of its “Pork Belly for Grilling” products. The recall was issued after inspectors from the Illinois Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Meat and Poultry Inspection found that the product contained wheat without declaring it on the label.

Wheat is a common allergen, and missing allergen information can pose serious health risks to consumers who are sensitive to it.

The company reported that approximately 800 pounds of the product are included in the recall. The “Pork Belly for Grilling” items were produced on several dates throughout the past year.

Production dates printed above the product name include April 16, May 7, May 28, August 20, September 10, October 22, October 28, October 29, November 28 of 2025, and February 4 of 2026.

Only a small portion—less than 50 pounds—was sold at Fresh International Market in Champaign and at Caddy Shack in Sheldon, Illinois. The rest of the recalled items were distributed directly by Gourmet Trends Kitchen to customers. Since these items may still be stored in freezers, consumers are urged to check their frozen food supplies carefully.

The issue came to light during a routine inspection, and no adverse reactions linked to the product have been confirmed so far. However, consumers who believe they may have had a reaction to the recalled product should contact a healthcare provider immediately.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture has advised customers not to consume any of the recalled pork products. Instead, consumers should return the items to the place of purchase or contact Gourmet Trends Kitchen for further guidance. This step helps ensure that people with wheat allergies remain safe and informed.

For more information or questions about the recall, individuals can reach out to the company’s representative, Jacqueline Yu, by phone at (702) 885‑8332 or by emailing greatfoods@gourmettrendsllc.com. The company is working with officials to ensure the issue is handled responsibly and safely.
