The Illinois Performance Tested (IPT) Bull Sale continues its legacy of excellence, reaching a record-high average of $7,096 on 33 lots at the 2025 event. Held during the Illinois Beef Expo at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, the sale remains a leading source for high-performance cattle genetics.
A Tradition of Quality Genetics
The IPT Bull Sale has provided top-tier bulls to cattle producers for 57 years. According to sale manager Travis Meteer, the event has sold 5,030 bulls valued at over $10 million since its inception. The sale features multiple breeds, including Angus, Simmental, and Polled Hereford, offering both yearling and older bulls.
Illinois Bulls Fetch Record Prices
This year’s top-selling bull, a yearling Angus named Kramer Farms Goalkeeper 2348, sold for $13,500 to Crosby Farms in Indiana. Other high-sellers included:
- Senior Simmental bull: Sold for $11,000 by Haven Hill Simmentals.
- Senior Angus bull: Sold for $9,000 by Joe Curtin Cattle Company.
- Yearling Simmental bull: Sold for $10,500 by Rincker Simmentals.
- Polled Hereford bull: Sold for $6,500 by Lowderman Cattle Company.
Industry Support and Future Sales
The event was sponsored by the University of Illinois Extension, the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and key industry partners like Axiota, Vita-Ferm, and Zoetis.
