Ten Illinois 4-H members have been recognized for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to the future of agriculture. These young leaders were selected as the 2025-26 Illinois Sustaining the Future Award recipients, an honor given to students who show strong involvement in agricultural activities and a desire to stay engaged in the industry.
The Sustaining the Future Award highlights the contributions of youth who are already making an impact in their communities. As part of this recognition, the awardees are invited to attend the Premier 20 Leadership Conference, which will be held on April 27-28, 2026, at the Illinois Farm Bureau headquarters in Bloomington.
This conference is considered one of the top youth leadership and professional development opportunities in the state, bringing together motivated students who aspire to serve the agricultural sector.
The ten award recipients represent counties across Illinois and reflect the diversity and strength of the state’s 4-H program. This year’s honorees include:
- Abagail Baumann, Boone County 4-H
- Addison McGlaughlin, Boone County 4-H
- Caitlin Murphy, Peoria County 4-H
- Ethan Lee, Whiteside County 4-H
- Grace McCarty, White County 4-H
- Lane Perry, Clark County 4-H
- Makinzie Gaither, Lawrence County 4-H
- Ojas Shah, McLean County 4-H

These awardees have demonstrated strong leadership skills, a passion for agriculture, and a commitment to continuing their involvement in the industry. Through their projects, service, and dedication, they represent the next generation of agricultural leaders who will help guide the industry forward.
The Sustaining the Future Award is sponsored by the Illinois Farm Bureau and the Affiliates Youth Education in Agriculture Committee. Their support helps ensure that young people interested in agriculture have opportunities to grow, learn, and strengthen their leadership abilities.
These recognitions serve as a reminder of the valuable role youth play in shaping the future of agriculture, and the importance of programs that foster learning, leadership, and community involvement.
