The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is hosting its Agronomy Days series this summer, offering a unique opportunity to learn about the latest findings in crop production directly from experts. This series is a great way to stay up-to-date on research and best practices that can help you optimize productivity, profitability, and sustainability on your farm.
Agronomy Days 2024 features a variety of events, including traditional field days, on-farm gatherings, and informal talks. Some events will provide refreshments, while others will give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at ongoing crop science research. New events are being added throughout the season, so be sure to check the Agronomy Days calendar regularly.
"This series expands on our long-running Agronomy Day tradition by reaching a wider audience," says Adam Davis, head of the crop sciences department. "With events happening all summer at various locations, farmers can more easily fit these educational opportunities into their busy schedules."
The series kicks off on May 24th with a Small Grains Field Day. This event starts with coffee and pastries at the Agronomy Seed House in Urbana. Here, you'll see research plots showcasing the latest advancements in wheat and oat breeding. The program concludes at 12:30 PM, followed by a free BBQ lunch.
