Registration has commenced for the upcoming Southern Illinois Farming Alliance Conference, slated for January 27, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at John A. Logan College.
This conference provides an invaluable platform for local farmers and individuals keen on farming to engage with experts and organizations supporting organic, regenerative, and entrepreneurial farming endeavors across southern Illinois.
With over 20 organizations in attendance, farmers will gain access to a plethora of resources. Notable participants include Midwest GRIT, University of Illinois Extension, Illinois Stewardship Alliance, American Farmland Trust, and several others.
The conference's keynote address by Dr. Trent Ford, the Illinois State Climatologist, will delve into the implications of climate change for regional farmers. Additionally, guest speakers will spotlight crucial subjects such as land access through Farmlink and Agroforestry practices as a facet of regenerative systems by the Savannah Institute. Food Works of Southern Illinois will share local programs and opportunities beneficial to farmers.
Registration is currently open, requiring a refundable $20 fee, reimbursed upon check-in at the event. Moreover, small stipends are available to support traveling farmers. The conference will provide breakfast, lunch, and beverages throughout the day.
