Local students in West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri have been granted scholarships totaling more than $30,000 by the Community Foundation. The scholarships, sourced from various endowed funds, aim to provide financial support to students pursuing higher education in the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.
The recipients represent a diverse range of academic interests and backgrounds, each selected based on the specific criteria of the respective scholarship funds. The majority of the scholarships are endowed, ensuring continued growth and future opportunities for deserving students.
The scholarships include funds such as the Amelia E. Bauner, Frances A. Hall, and Walter J. Hall Scholarship, supporting students from Adams County enrolled in education programs at Quincy University. The George and Sharen Borrowman Agriculture Scholarship assists a former student or graduate of John Wood Community College pursuing an agricultural-related field at Western Illinois University.
Other recipients include students studying fields like music education, nursing, engineering, sociology, and more, attending institutions such as Central College, University of Missouri, Vanderbilt University, and Truman State University.
Established to honor individuals' legacies or philanthropic interests, these scholarships exemplify the local community's commitment to education and empowering future generations.
