On behalf of the Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA), Warren Goetsch, P.E., of Springfield, has been presented with the "IPPA Friend of Agriculture" award at the 2020 Illinois Pork Expo and Annual Meeting.

This recognition is to highlight successful relationships between the pork industry and agriculture partners in Illinois.

Goetsch was raised on a small grain and livestock farm in Montgomery County, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois where he received both his B. S. and M. S. Degrees in Agricultural Engineering.

After graduation, he served over 9 years as an Area Extension Engineer with the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service before joining the Illinois Department of Agriculture in 1989.

Since joining the Department, he held several positions including Acting Director, Chief of Staff, Division Manager of Natural Resources, Bureau Chief of Environmental Programs, and Bureau Chief of Laboratories, and most recently, Deputy Director of the Department.

Goetsch was instrumental when creating the Livestock Management Facilities Act (LMFA) in 1996. He frequently moderated public hearings for new livestock barns with immeasurable knowledge of the industry and regulations. He is a strong advocate for the pork industry and will always be referred to as a friend of IPPA.

"Warren has been respected in the agriculture community throughout his career," explains Jennifer Tirey, IPPA Executive Director. "It has personally been an honor working with him and the entire livestock industry owes him a debt of gratitude for his dedication and support over the years."
