The DeWitt, Macon, and Piatt 4-H General Projects and Livestock Show will take place from July 9 to July 12 at the DeWitt County 4-H Fairgrounds. The event promises to be lively and engaging, bringing together youth participants and community members to celebrate learning, creativity, and agricultural skills.
Visitors can explore general project exhibits from July 10 to July 12 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Livestock exhibits will also be open to the public during the same dates, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. These exhibits offer a close look at the dedication and effort of 4-H members.
The event begins on July 9 with the Tractor Driving competition at 5:30 p.m. On July 10, activities include General Projects Judging from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Rabbit Show at 10 a.m., and the Goat Show at noon. The day ends with an exciting Ag Olympics at 7 p.m., organized with the support of the DeWitt County Farm Bureau, where all youth are welcome to participate.
July 11 continues with General Projects Judging from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Livestock events include the Swine Show at 8 a.m., Poultry Show at 9 a.m., and Sheep Show at 2 p.m. The Master Showmanship Contest will take place at 6 p.m., highlighting skill and dedication in handling animals.
On the final day, July 12, visitors can attend the Beef Show at 9 a.m. and General Projects Judging from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A Talent Show has been added at 2:30 p.m., followed by the Awards Program at 4 p.m., where participants will be recognized.
“With over 85 different project areas, our 4-H members have ample opportunity to display their skills and creativity to their communities,” says Marisa Capps, 4-H program coordinator. “It is always a true joy to see what has inspired our youth each year and to hear them speak about their individual passions."
Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, as seating is limited, ensuring comfort while enjoying the wide range of activities and celebrations.
