Many high school students begin thinking about future careers while still in school, and agricultural education continues to be an important field that supports both learning and the agricultural industry.
To encourage more students to explore this career path, a college agriculture department is offering a paid internship opportunity for the 2026 spring season. The internship is designed for high school juniors and seniors who have a sincere interest in becoming agricultural education teachers in the future.
The program allows selected students to gain hands-on experience by working with their current agricultural education teacher or a designated teacher. During the internship, students will assist with a variety of classroom duties, activities related to agricultural instruction, and tasks connected to student organizations such as FFA.
This practical experience helps students learn more about the responsibilities of teaching agriculture and provides an introduction to leadership and communication skills.
The internship will take place between January 1 and May 1, 2026. Students participating in the program will be compensated at a rate of $10 per hour for up to 80 hours of work.
This payment is funded through a grant that supports the internship and helps make the opportunity accessible for interested students.
Teachers who wish to nominate a student must request a memorandum of understanding by contacting the program coordinator through email.
By submitting a nomination, teachers confirm that their student has expressed genuine interest in exploring agricultural education as a possible career. After receiving the required form, teachers must return it to complete the approval process.
Because the internship has a limited number of spots, early responses are encouraged. Once selections are made, students will be able to begin their internship and build valuable experience in agricultural education.
This opportunity gives future educators a chance to learn, grow, and contribute to their school’s agricultural program while preparing for possible career pathways in the field.
