A passionate and experienced leader, Kasey Kemme has been named the new Extension county director for Clay, Effingham, Fayette, and Jasper counties in Illinois. She will guide local Extension efforts by overseeing operations, supporting staff and volunteers, planning programs, managing finances, and building partnerships that benefit the community.
Doug Harlan, Associate Regional Director, expressed excitement over Kemme’s appointment, highlighting her strong ties to local communities and dedication to education and engagement. "Kasey brings a wealth of experience and familiarity with the local communities, volunteers, and unit staff to this position," said Harlan.
Kemme's journey with Extension began in 2014 through youth programs and 4-H shows in several counties. After working as a classroom teacher in both urban and rural settings, where she introduced 4-H activities into her teaching, she returned to Extension in 2021 as a 4-H youth development educator for these same counties. In this role, she led programs that helped young people build important life skills.
An Iroquois County native, Kemme holds both a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Eastern Illinois University.
Her background in youth development, education, and community involvement makes her well-prepared for this leadership role.
In her new position, Kemme aims to continue Extension’s mission to deliver research-based educational programs that strengthen individuals, communities, and the environment. "I am very excited to begin my new role as county director," said Kemme. "I am looking forward to continuing to work with our youth, volunteers, and communities to make our counties the best they can be."
