When do harvest windows get tighter and what's happening globally? Farm Credit Illinois analyzes these two issues in a new video posted to its YouTube channel.
Early fall harvest windows have been wide open and Illinois crops are finishing well in the fields. The state had early frosts, but ,due to a decent accumulation of growing degree days this summer, most made it to maturity and yield loss from the early frost events doesn't seem to be an issue.
Harvest windows will likely stay open for a large part of October, but as farmers approach November, more frequent low-pressure systems could interfere with later harvested fields. La Nina remains very strong but there are several indicators that it will fade this winter.
