Illinois Pork Producers Association Bids Farewell to Retiring Directors

The 2024 Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA) annual meeting marked a poignant moment as four dedicated directors bid farewell, having significantly contributed to the promotion of pork products and the welfare of pig farmers across the state.

Jill Brokaw served from 2021-2023, bringing her third-generation pig farming expertise to the IPPA board. Co-owner of Biddle Gilts, LLC., Jill extended her commitment to the National Pork Board, focusing on producer outreach and sustainability coordination for Illinois and Missouri. Her dedication goes beyond the farm, actively engaging in community functions and committees, particularly supporting the local Autism community.

Pam Janssen, a sixth-generation farmer, dedicated her service from 2010-2023. Operating a 300-head farrow-to-finish pig farm in Woodford County, Pam's family farm, established in 1874, is a recognized centennial farm. As she bids adieu to the IPPA board, Pam looks forward to spending more time with her family, emphasizing the joy of enjoying what you do in livestock production.

Blane Olson, a third-generation farmer from Logan County, contributed from 2018-2023. His family's diverse grain and livestock operation includes a purebred Duroc show pig and breeding stock operation. Blane's passion for raising livestock spans over 50 years, and he actively serves on the Mt. Pulaski school board and St. Patrick's Catholic Church Parrish Council.

Jason Propst from Cumberland County, an IPPA board member from 2011-2023, wears many hats in the pork industry. A Swine Enterprise Specialist, Jason values his IPPA involvement for gaining insights into industry challenges and building lasting industry friendships. As these directors retire, their legacies shape the future of pork farming in Illinois.
