Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB) and Country Financial have united to organize four "Emergency Planning on Your Farm" seminars in February, offering vital insights for farm families and businesses in crisis management and emergency preparedness.
Scheduled for February 9th in Edwardsville, one of the events requires registration by January 27th. The seminars, lasting approximately 2.5 hours, will feature guidance from IFB, Country Financial, and guest host Mike Pearson, a seasoned farm broadcaster and host of RFD-TV’s “This Week in Agribusiness.”
Kim Knapp, IFB Membership Operations Manager, emphasized the significance of these seminars in preparing farm communities for potential crises. The events aim to share real-life scenarios, common best practices, and valuable lessons to empower attendees to navigate disasters, severe weather, accidents, and challenges posed by social media.
Mike Pearson stressed the importance of preparedness, noting that despite recent successes in agriculture, it's crucial to ready farms for emergencies during periods of stability. Agriculture, being a cyclical and multifaceted industry, can face challenges like the three "D’s": death, divorce, and disability. Preparedness is vital to maintaining family unity and farm sustainability during emergencies.
The seminars will cover key risks farms could encounter, drawing attention to essential aspects such as death, divorce, disability, and other potential crises. Mike Pearson, drawing from his experience, will share lessons learned from past emergencies, offering best practices for farm families and businesses.
Lindsey Rinkenberger, Country Director of Commercial Agribusiness Underwriting Operations, will provide insights into how Country farm-certified representatives can assist farmers in securing proper insurance coverages. Country Financial, the largest farm insurer in Illinois, boasts over 300 farm-certified representatives serving clients.
Registration for the seminars is open until January 27th. Interested participants can register here. For additional information, individuals can reach out to their local county Farm Bureau or contact Kim Knapp at 309-557-2601 or via email at kknapp@ilfb.org.
