Communities across Illinois are shaped by young farmers who work hard every day to make agriculture stronger, more sustainable and more responsible. These individuals are known for their skills in the field and for the values they demonstrate in their daily lives.
Their work shows that agriculture is more than planting crops. It is about protecting the land, caring for communities and building a legacy that will support future generations.
The 20 Under 40 recognition program, by the Illinois Soybean Association, aims to honor these young leaders who continue to inspire others. These farmers are known for their strong work ethic, commitment to progress and dedication to serving others.
They understand that success in agriculture is not measured only by high yields but by the positive impact they create in their communities. Many of them take leadership roles, introduce new ideas and work hard to make agriculture more sustainable.
Every year, the program looks for individuals who stand out for their character and contribution. This includes those who use modern techniques, take responsibility in community activities and show passion for the future of farming.
These farmers represent the next generation of agricultural leadership, bringing new energy and ideas to the industry.
Nominations for the program will officially open on March 1. Anyone can participate by nominating a young farmer who demonstrates excellence and leadership. Self-nominations are also welcome, giving individuals an opportunity to share their own story and accomplishments. All nominations must be submitted by Sunday, May 31.
This initiative is designed to highlight individuals who go beyond expectations. They are described as having an outstanding work ethic, a forward-thinking mindset, and a strong commitment to their communities. These qualities make them standout in the field, inspiring others and strengthening the future of agriculture in Illinois.
The 20 Under 40 recognition serves as a reminder that young farmers play a vital role in shaping the agricultural landscape. As they bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, they help ensure that Illinois agriculture remains strong and successful for years to come.
